Studer A80 1/2"
For sale is a rare vintage Studer A80 2-track reel-to-reel tape recorder with 1/2" heads. This came from David Rawlings' Woodland Studios here in Nashville TN. David is the second owner, previously owned by Owen Bradley / Jerry Bradley at the Barn where it was used on some famous records such as KD Lang's Shadowland. This machine has super low hours at 694. It's in fantastic shape for its age, well maintained and fully functional. It has a tastefully done non-destructive mod on the front as seen underneath the two channel preamps, enabling you to hear input / leave it in remote mode with the press of the buttons. The plate can easily be removed with one screw, there's no permanent modification to the machine made at all. It's like mounting a mini remote so you can activate input and hear the input signal and you don't have to listen to just repro. Super useful. This is entirely out of the signal path and only plugs into the remote input on the rear so there is no change to audio signal or tone. This A80 is ready to go in a new recording environment, you aren't likely to have another chance to grab one of these in such nice condition with such low hours. Grab it before it's gone.
